The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty - Radiology Department intends to hire for one position at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist with splitting duties in Department of Radiography - CT and MRI. Perform diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced imaging technology/equipment, explain examination procedures to patients and monitor their status, and instruct students and staff on examination and equipment operations. Perform and teach specialized MRI and research procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam.
Duties Include:
Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic equipment.
Maintain, operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
Explain examination process to patients.
Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures
Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
Plan daily, regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
Participate in on-call coverage.
Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital, departmental and clinical unit standards.
Participate in phantom, human and/or animal research.
Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
Perform and teach specialized imaging procedures utilizing MRI imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam. This includes independent operation with minimal physician supervision.
Perform MRI procedures using a variety of complex imaging and patient monitoring equipment.
Has knowledge of and applies MRI safety precautions to minimize or eliminate risks to patients, personnel, and equipment.
Has knowledge and understanding of key Service Excellence principles for interaction with patients and staff.
Establish rapport with patient and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient.
The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. Experience Requirements
Senior Imaging Technologist: A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Imaging Technologist: Requires successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
Certification Requirements (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist)
Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
Desirable Qualifications (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist)
Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired.
Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.
Recent work or clinical education experience in CT.
Recent work or clinical experience in MRI.
CT modality training.

MRI certification or eligible.
