Position Summary: The Assistant Dean provides administrative support of assigned programs and the strategic operations of assigned Career Community in Teaching, Learning, and Student Success. Working collaboratively with the AVP/Dean, the Assistant Dean provides academic leadership, faculty and staff support. The Assistant Dean works closely with faculty, staff, administrators, and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery and continuous improvement of the curriculum and programs, and creates an environment conducive to effective teaching and learning for faculty and student success. This position must use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job: 1. Oversees the development and management of assigned programs (Technology, Trades, Engineering, and Math Career Community and/or Business, Hospitality and Culinary Career Community) to align with the College mission and vision.2. Exercises administrative leadership in ensuring sustainability of pedagogically sound instructional practices and program curricula.3. Evaluates and recommends new programs of study, as determined by local and regional labor market needs.4. Organizes, develops, evaluates, implements and monitors instructional program and assessment activities.5. Facilitates industry advisory committees to ensure relevancy and currency of applied career programs.6. Supervises and evaluates designated college personnel; conducts faculty observations.7. Develops sufficient adjunct faculty pools, hires, assigns and evaluates adjunct faculty.8. Work collaboratively with the AVP/Dean to ensure full-time and adjunct faculty are evaluated using the prescribed processes, procedures, and timelines; make recommendations for continued improvement.9. Provides recommendations to support hiring and development of faculty and staff impacting assigned programs.10. Prepare budget recommendations, submit justifications for budget items, monitor and control expenditures for assigned programs.11. Maintain current knowledge of trends and innovations in community colleges generally, and in assigned programs of study within the unit; communicate and share this knowledge regularly with staff and faculty. 12. Serve as a liaison between the faculty, staff, and administration.13. Participates in processes related to obtaining grants and budget planning; works with outside contacts in the implementation of articulation agreements.14. Monitors class/faculty schedules, and office hours.15. Manages and responds to student concerns, issues, and complaints within the unit.16. Monitor program enrollment and student retention in assigned programs.17. Prepares reports and maintains standards related to the accreditation process.18. Related projects, initiatives and duties as assigned.
1. Master's Degree in a discipline associated with the academic area [or alternative professional licensure (as appropriate to the field) and/or significant professional experience in a field within the assigned program area2. Five (5) years or more of experience in higher education or related field, with at least two (2) years in a leadership or administrative role.

Experience using Student Information Systems (human resources, financial, student system) and standard office software and technology and equipment.
