Job Description:

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing all environmental compliance activities, ensuring the facility operates within regulatory standards by managing waste disposal, air emissions, water discharge, and hazardous materials, while developing and implementing sustainability strategies to minimize the plant's environmental impact and promote responsible practices.

Monitor and maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations related to air emissions, wastewater discharge, hazardous waste management and permitting processes.

Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to identify potential compliance issues and ensure corrective actions are taken. Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies.

Develop and implement waste minimization strategies to reduce the generation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

Oversee proper storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous waste according to regulations.

Manage waste disposal contracts with vendors and ensure compliance with waste disposal procedures.

Develop and execute sustainability plans to reduce the plant's carbon footprint, energy consumption, and overall environmental impact.

Collaborate with internal departments to integrate environmental considerations into operational planning.

Engage with regulatory agencies, community groups, and other external stakeholders on environmental issues.

Responsible for responding to releases and spills and sourcing spill response contractors.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Science is required. Advanced Technical Degree valuable but not required. As Environmental & Regulatory Manager, this individual demonstrates critical competencies in four broad categories: commitment to accuracy & confidentiality, business wisdom & savvy, leading change, and motivating.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 7 years in essential chemical industry environmental role, preferably for US based chemical operations role of 10 years.

Practical experience handling and interacting with US Federal and State authorities for chemical environmental activities and operations performance to meet permits and regulations.

Knowledge and experience managing site air, effluent and discharge streams plus training and oversight of environmental and sustainability programs and involvement in inspection/audits at site.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.
• Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.
