Location Requirements: Candidates must be local to Yuma, AZ, willing to relocate (relocation assistance provided), or live close enough to Yuma to travel onsite 50% of the time.

Salary Range:
  • Minimum: $109,817.93
  • Midpoint: $142,763.31
  • Maximum: $175,708.68

Summary

The Director of Epic Applications Training is responsible for the development of training courses and materials for trainers, super users, and end users across multiple applications and related systems. This role oversees application learning and development strategies while working closely with IT and operational leadership to assess and coordinate training needs throughout the lifecycle of core IT systems, including Ambulatory, Patient Access and Revenue Cycle, Business, Inpatient, and Telemedicine & Training functions.

Success in this role requires strong experience in training design, implementation, and optimization of electronic health records (EHR) and related systems to support patient care and business operations. The incumbent will lead initiatives that advocate for the effective use of information technology, align training solutions with organizational goals, and mentor leaders and staff to ensure continuous development and training excellence. This position reports to the Administrative Director of Clinical Informatics.

Responsibilities:

Planning & Strategic Vision
  • Provide strategic direction for applications training and professional development initiatives.
  • Develop and communicate short-term and long-term objectives for the training program to align with organizational goals.
  • Work closely with leadership and stakeholders to assess emerging technologies and their impact on training needs.

Fiscal & Resource Management
  • Oversee the annual budget and operational plan for training initiatives, ensuring financial responsibility.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost-efficiency and effectiveness of training programs.
  • Evaluate training resources and technology investments to enhance overall system education efforts.

Training & Customer Support
  • Design and oversee the development of training materials, e-learning modules, and hands-on workshops.
  • Ensure training programs support end-user adoption, system optimization, and best practices.
  • Implement metrics and feedback loops to continuously improve training effectiveness.
  • Work closely with IT teams to provide guidance on system troubleshooting and end-user support.

Operational Leadership & Quality Improvement
  • Lead a team responsible for delivering training across the organization.
  • Develop policies and procedures to standardize training methodologies and delivery.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the impact of training programs.
  • Identify inefficiencies in training workflows and implement process improvements to drive operational excellence.

System Integration & Change Management
  • Partner with IT and operational teams to ensure smooth system implementations and upgrades.
  • Support optimization of the electronic health record (EHR) and related applications to enhance patient care.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to promote the successful adoption of new technologies.
  • Lead change management efforts to encourage engagement, competency, and continuous learning.

Human Resources & Leadership Development
  • Mentor and coach training staff and department leaders to build a high-performing team.
  • Ensure ongoing professional development opportunities for staff through certifications, workshops, and industry conferences.
  • Promote an environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Community Engagement
  • Act as a liaison between IT, clinicians, and business units to align training programs with industry standards.
  • Foster relationships with external vendors, training partners, and industry experts to enhance learning initiatives.
  • Support community involvement initiatives and represent the organization at professional training and technology forums.
