We are partnering with an exciting, pre-IPO biotech company in the Bay Area that is pioneering advancements in the Hemophilia cell-therapy space. As they enter a critical stage in their growth, they are seeking a VP of Finance to join their leadership team and help scale the company's financial operations.
Position Overview:
As the VP of Finance, you will play a key role in shaping the company's financial strategy and operations during this pivotal growth period. You will be responsible for leading the accounting and FP&A functions, providing financial insights to drive business decisions, and working closely with the executive team to prepare for the company's IPO. This is a hands-on leadership role with high visibility, requiring expertise in both accounting and financial planning and analysis, and experience in a pre-IPO biotech or pharma environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the accounting and FP&A teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis processes.
Partner with senior leadership to provide financial guidance and strategy to support the company's growth and operational objectives.
Prepare for the company's IPO, including managing financial audits, financial reporting requirements, and compliance with SEC regulations.
Develop and implement financial models to support decision-making in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment.
Work with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal teams to ensure compliance and reporting integrity.
Manage cash flow, capital structure, and investor relations as the company moves towards its IPO.
Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in a biotech/pharma company, ideally in a pre-IPO environment.
Expertise in both accounting (GAAP, financial reporting) and FP&A (financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting).
Strong experience in IPO preparation and navigating the financial complexities of a biotech start-up.
Proven ability to collaborate with executive teams and provide strategic financial insights.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performance teams.
A deep understanding of biotech/pharma financial metrics, especially in the context of cell therapy or rare diseases (a plus).
