The traits needed to be a successful Division Controller are drive to be the best, leadership, and a passion to make a difference while adding value to a company. This role should be a key contributor to our management team. Reporting to the CFO, the Division Controller will need to listen to the team, learn our business processes, then perform results-oriented actions in support of our philosophy of continuous improvement. Core to the position is managing the day-to-day accounting operations and month end close. This position will be responsible for understanding how operations affects the financial results, effectively communicating findings, and problem solving with the plants and other departments. The Division Controller will maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Learn current business processes
Analyze the organization's income and expenditures to support decision making
Prepare monthly financial statements for 3 companies, including related eliminating entries
Manage and develop staff performing accounting and customer service duties
Ensure compliance with deadlines, regulations and tax laws
Oversee month end close and budget planning
Plan inventory counts and post variances
Prepare and approve journal entries
Prepare management reports as needed
Gather support for audits
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & SKILLS
Knowledge of:SAP or other large ERP experience is highly desired
Agriculture or manufacturing industry helpful
Ability to:Demonstrate strong analytical abilities and mathematical skills

Demonstrate organization and time management skills
Display strong interpersonal communication skills

Possess good judgment, planning skills and leadership traits
Problem-solve, be a self-starter and handle multiple priorities
Skills:
Accounting Operations: Knowledge of accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Fixed Assets, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition to ensure accuracy
Data Based Decisions: Demonstrates strong quantitative and analytical skills as they apply to reporting and information processing. Uses various methods to make data-based decisions.
Continuous Improvement: Design, roadmap and continuous process/control improvement plans, leading implementation of both, including application/system change management for increased efficiency and effectiveness of processes or data.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Professional certificate such as CPA, CMA or CFM preferred
Previous experience in a Controller role or practical training or experience in an audit or CPA firm is beneficial
At least eight years' of senior accounting level experience and higher
Minimum five years' experience preparing financial statements
Advanced level proficiency in MS Excel
