Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of Local Area Networks (LAN) and related infrastructure within the healthcare domain. This position requires expertise in networking protocols, hardware, and security, particularly within a healthcare environment, where confidentiality, security, and compliance are critical.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Network Design and Implementation:
  • Design, configure, and implement LANs, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networks.
  • Ensure high availability and redundancy in the network infrastructure, ensuring the healthcare organization's operations run smoothly.
  • Work closely with the IT team to support new infrastructure initiatives and updates in the healthcare system.
  • Network Administration:
  • Manage and monitor daily operations of LAN, ensuring efficient performance and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Perform network monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve connectivity problems in a timely manner.
  • Configure and manage DHCP, DNS, and other network services to maintain network health.
  • Security & Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain network security best practices to safeguard sensitive healthcare data and comply with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Configure and enforce firewall policies, VPNs, and network access controls to ensure secure communication.
  • Stay up to date with security threats and vulnerabilities, applying patches, updates, and fixes to protect against cyber threats.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Teams:
  • Work closely with clinical and administrative departments to ensure seamless network support and connectivity, improving overall healthcare operations.
  • Support telemedicine, Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other healthcare technologies to ensure reliable network services.
  • Troubleshooting & Support:
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level network troubleshooting and support, ensuring that critical systems such as PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and EHR remain operational.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity problems and performance degradation.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed network topology diagrams and documentation for future reference and troubleshooting.
  • Regularly report on network performance and health, providing recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • years of experience as a Network Engineer, with a focus on LAN and networking technologies.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, etc.) and network monitoring tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Experience in managing and supporting network services in a healthcare setting, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Familiarity with healthcare-specific systems, such as Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and their integration into network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN, MPLS, and other advanced networking solutions.
  • Experience working with healthcare management software or systems.

Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders, especially in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a secure and efficient network.

Working Environment:

This position typically involves working in an office environment with regular interaction with various healthcare departments. Occasional on-call work may be required for network issues affecting critical systems.
