We serve the medical imaging, commercial aerospace, military aerospace, ballistic protection, and vibratory spring markets. We build products that help save the lives of our military personnel, as well as, save lives in hospitals throughout the world. We are known for our expertise in material selection, modern manufacturing technologies, cost-effective prototyping, and consistent quality. The company, originally founded in 1985, is located in Erie, PA. We have recently added another 23,000 square feet. In addition, we have a very significant new product line scheduled to be launched in 2025.

Composiflex Inc. is seeking a talented Product Design Engineer to strengthen our team.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Analysis of customer proposals for feasibility
  • Customer interaction to provide clear and defined program details
  • Design of composite products utilizing Solidworks
  • Creation of manufacturing methods
  • Prepare product and process specific plans
  • Design of tooling such as molds, machine fixtures, layup templates, and extraction devices
  • Create mechanical drawings
  • Daily interaction with our manufacturing engineers and production team to ensure a successful product launch.
  • Assist with manufacturing problems
  • Ensure the necessary testing is performed based on customer requirements or industry standards.
  • Maintain product and process compliance items directly related to Nadcap and AS9100.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts as needed throughout our facility

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • 3+ years of product design experience
  • Experience with Carbon fiber, fiberglass, HMPE, or Aramid fiber with thermoplastic or thermoset resin systems (including epoxy, vinyl ester, and polyester) experience is preferred.
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to plan, document, and execute programs/projects.
  • Ability to work optimally both independently and as part of our team
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, be adaptable, and contribute to our culture.

Other skills required for the position include, knowledge of 3D systems such as AutoCad and/or Solidworks, finite element analysis and project management software. The candidate will also have experience in mathematical analysis, resolving part nonconformance, writing reports and effectively presenting information to clients and management.
