Job Title: Electrical Hardware Engineer

Location: Asheville, NC

Salary: $104,000-$131,000

Our client seeks an Electrical Systems Engineer to perform system layout, hardware selection, integration, and testing of system electrical hardware.

The Electrical Hardware Engineer will...
  • Lead electrical and electronics systems hardware architecture and topology definition.
  • Support system design and integration of high-power components.
  • Lead electrical product design, including modeling/simulation, key component selection, schematic capture, PCB support, thermal design, and regulatory compliance.
  • Diagnose problems within electrical systems and recommend solutions.
  • Design cabling for electronics and power interconnections.
  • Collaborate with engineers to define and implement firmware, communication networks, electrical schematics, and layout..
  • Lead DFMEA and DVP&R development processes for electrical components.
  • Supervise product development and validation in the lab.
  • Support manufacturing teams during product industrialization.
  • Work with supply chain personnel to evaluate vendors and identify alternative parts.
  • Supervise and advise 3rd party contractors on builds.

The Electrical Hardware Engineer should have....
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in development, validation, or testing with industrial electrical design.
  • Knowledge of AC motors, VFD drives, control systems, and wiring systems.
  • Knowledge of CAN, ModBus, TCP/IP communication protocols.
  • Understanding of 480VAC/800VDC voltage functional safety.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment and basic electrical safety.
  • Appreciation of EMC design methods and validation testing.
  • Working knowledge of automotive and industrial sensing/feedback systems.
  • Experience writing technical statements of work (SOW).
