Optomi, in partnership with a market leader in the financial sector, is seeking a Sr. Full Stack Engineer for a hybrid position out of their office in Baltimore, MD. This role is centered around enhancing existing tools and applications for the securitized subsector of fixed income. The team is transitioning to build new tools for portfolio managers, with a heavy focus on backend development. This candidate will collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop and improve the platform that serves credit analysts, and pivot toward creating scalable, innovative solutions. The role demands significant backend development experience (80% focus), with some involvement in frontend work and full stack contributions when necessary.

Experience of the right candidate:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Strong experience in JavaScript, as 95% of the codebase is written in this language.
Proven experience in backend development, particularly using Node.js.
Experience working with databases from the front-end to the back-end, ensuring efficient data flow and integration.
Proficiency in working with RESTful APIs for middleware and service communication.
Hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, etc.
Understanding of cloud infrastructure and experience building solutions using cloud components.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Python is highly valuable and transferable within the company.
While not currently used, familiarity with GraphQL is a bonus.
Although not a primary focus, some UI design experience would be beneficial for future work.
General financial knowledge is helpful but not essential for this role.
Responsibilities of the right candidate:
Enhance and maintain tools and applications that support credit analysts, while pivoting towards the development of tools for portfolio managers.
Focus primarily on backend development using Node.js and JavaScript.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on building and maintaining database solutions, deployment pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
Utilize AWS cloud services to build, deploy, and maintain solutions in the cloud.
Contribute to RESTful API development and integration with other platforms.
Participate in technical interviews, pair programming, and architecture discussions to help shape the team's technical direction.
Work in a collaborative, agile environment, contributing to all stages of the software development lifecycle.
