Job Description:

Summary

The Director of Residential Services will support all aspects of the agency's mission of supporting people on their path to a good life. They must be willing to follow the structure that is in place within the agency to maintain consistency for our team and clients. Their attitude should reflect a desire to build a positive working relationship with both the individuals and staff. They will report directly to the president and/or CEO, and work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer, Agency Nurse, and Office Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Their schedule must be flexible enough to handle some evening and weekend hours as needs arise.
  • Supervise all DSP staff as well as the Office Manager and Agency Nurse, including disciplinary actions.
  • Work alongside the President to recruit staff to hire, onboard and retain top quality employees.
  • Manage all aspects of training for new and current staff.
  • Work alongside House Managers to coordinate staff schedules.
  • Coordinate staff vacation time and requests off.
  • Share emergency on-call responsibilities.
  • Most homes have a house manager who manages the day-to-day operations of the home. The Director of Residential Services works closely with the house manager and support staff to ensure the client's needs are met and they are provided with a lifestyle and environment that meets both their desires, and the standards set forth by the agency.
  • In the event a home is without a House Manager, the Director of Residential Services will coordinate the key House Manager responsibilities until a new house manager is adequately in place.
  • Provide oversite and assistance with all aspects of the medical needs of the individuals we serve.
  • Complete Major Unusual Incident (MUI) reporting, and oversite of all Unusual Incidents (UI).
  • Coordinate needs between the client and their work or day program.
  • Provide clear and timely communication with all members of the client's team.
  • Prepare for and represent our individuals in their annual ISP meetings as requested by the President.
  • Prepare the monthly Activity Calendar. Seek opportunities for new activities of interest to the individuals we serve. Attend and assist with some of the monthly activities planned for our individuals.
  • Work with the Office Manager to maintain accurate records.
  • Assist the President in updating agency Policy and Procedures, training manuals, etc. to meet required compliance and necessary company updates.
  • Complete the process of on-boarding new clients.
  • Lead the set up and organization of new homes.
  • Complete the process for clients transferring out of our program.
  • Work with the President to create new and fun ways to recognize and reward staff and clients.
  • Collaborate with the President and CEO to create and implement vision, innovation, organization, budgets, and direction as well as evaluate the success of the organization in reaching its goals.
  • Represent the agency to the larger DODD community at meetings, trainings, etc., as requested by the President or CEO.
  • Maintain certification in Medication Administration, and CPR/1st Aid as provided by the agency, as well as any additional training required.

Required Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
  • Proven capacity to manage time well and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • People oriented with the ability to interact with and win-over people with many different types of personalities and needs. The Director of Residential Services is a key communicator who serves as a sounding-board for clients and staff within the organization, as well as members of their team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to clear and timely communication to bridge gaps in services.
  • Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-confident and driven with an ability to establish direction and work with minimal guidance.
  • Comfortable dealing with conflict and staff challenges.
  • Willingness to learn and grow with the organization.
  • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelors required; Masters preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years leadership experience within an organization serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Able to provide transportation for clients as needed in a vehicle that meets safety standards established by the State Highway Patrol
  • Meets the employment requirements outlined by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Drivers Abstract with less than 6-point
  • BCII/FBI Background Check cleared
  • Drug Screening cleared
  • Full coverage vehicle insurance
