Position Description
This position will assist in the development and deployment, installation, and training for US Navy acoustic systems. The ASW Trainer will play a key role in the operational effectiveness of acoustic systems used by the Navy.
Responsibilities
Participate in planning activities for the development and deployment of high-fidelity, supercomputing-based acoustic trainer systems.
Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the operation, testing, and evaluation of trainer capabilities.
Install and turnover trainer systems to the US Navy, ensuring proper installation and operational functionality.
Work directly with internal developers, external tactical development teams, US Navy schoolhouse personnel, and military and civilian DoD customers to ensure that trainer systems meet operational requirements and function properly.
Program Overview
This position supports a US Navy program dedicated to the design, development, and maintenance of systems used for the measurement, acquisition, processing, and analysis of ship signature data. The program involves advanced techniques in signal processing, signature characterizations, and the development of algorithms aimed at improving ship vulnerability assessment.
The contract provides comprehensive scientific, engineering, and technical support for the development, fabrication, integration, testing, and maintenance of simulation systems. This includes providing on-site maintenance for operational systems and supporting tactical testing and analysis for simulation systems used in training and operational configurations.
Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma with significant subject matter expertise obtained through a Surface Ship ASW-related ST tour.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required with eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government-granted security clearance. Employment is contingent on receiving an interim Secret security clearance.
Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in related military roles, with demonstrated capabilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Specific Expertise: Proficiency in SQQ-89 (ACB13 or newer) Sonar system operations.
Teamwork: Comfortable working directly with technical personnel and conducting system testing. Must be flexible, energetic, and able to thrive in a team environment.
Desired Qualifications
Education: B.S./B.A. degree or ongoing education in a technical domain.
Experience: Acoustic Intelligence experience is highly desired.
Technical Skills: Experience with Atlassian Products and MS Office tools.
