The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of VINCI Construction, Dragados, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project -the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).


The project scope across a 9-mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45 diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America.


Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Report and make recommendations to Project Safety Manager regarding project and management strategies as it relates to operation facilities and security processes.
  • Ensure implementation of effective facility and security management policies across the business; act as first point of contact
  • Review and manage all operational systems including preventive and corrective maintenance, term contract works, unscheduled maintenance
  • Collaborate with the Project Safety Manager and HR to develop an on-going program to ensure employee awareness and compliance to Company Health & Safety, and Environment and Security policies
  • Prepare and maintain building capacity data, continually plan ahead for changes in activities that will impact the project properties
  • Negotiate with service providers and contractors to effect cost reductions
  • Manage safety and security onboarding process by issuing project badges and parking passes.
  • Manage maintenance of the security guards facilities to ensure they are in health and safety compliance.
  • Prepare, implement and maintain a security plan in compliance with the owners requirements.
  • Create and oversee all emergency evacuation drills for all project facilities.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested

Essential Skills and Experience

  • At least 5 years relevant experience
  • Proven ability to work toward stringent deadlines
  • Ability to communicate business decisions and changes to working practices clearly
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional and objective perspective at all times
  • Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to shift patterns and hours of work, ability to work flexible hours from time to time
  • Finely tuned political awareness and excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Confident in presentation skills, both internally and client-facing
  • Ability to build fast and credible relationships with Senior Management and clients; ability to challenge and influence when necessary
  • A 'can-do' attitude and resilient character with the ability to manage expectations
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
