The IT Generalist will manage CNIT (Heidelberg IT) systems that support students, faculty and staff. This encompasses classroom educational technology, computer labs, application and server software, printing infrastructure, and networking support. Performs both emergency and preventative maintenance for equipment belonging to the University.






SUPERVISION RECEIVED:


Reports directly to the Chief Information Officer.






SUPERVISION EXERCISED:


The IT Generalist may give direction to student workers, as needed.






ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manage Canvas LMS configuration and support

  • Support educational technology in classrooms

  • Manage hardware and software life cycles in all computer labs

  • Resolve Helpdesk incidents relating to systems and infrastructure

  • Provide technical support for faculty and staff workstations

  • Assist with configuration and support of VoIP telephony

  • Assist with administration of MS Active Directory domain

  • Assist with administration of campus networks

  • Assist with other CNIT tasks as assigned

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES AND QUALIFICATIONS:



Education and Professional Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree - computer science, technology, or a related field

  • 3 years work experience

  • Experience with Canvas or another LMS

  • Experience with classroom educational technology



Preferred Education and Experience:



  • Experience working with MS Active Directory

  • Experience working with Cisco and Meraki networking

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Knowledge of operation and use of various office equipment including, but not limited to: personal computer, including spreadsheet and word processing software, integrated database software, fax machine, copier, telephone, scanner, and printers. The employee in this position must have a valid Ohio driver's license.






PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use arms, hands and fingers to operate and manipulate equipment generally found in an office setting. The employee may be frequently required to be mobile, communicate, and hear. The employee may occasionally be subject to a variety of outdoor environmental conditions including heat, cold, and precipitation. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Mental demands include varied degrees of occasional stress while performing job duties.






WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office setting, and educational facilities including sports and entertainment venues, all of which may be indoor or outdoor. The noise level in the work environment will range from moderately quiet to occasionally loud.
