We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Trauma Registrar to join our team in Oklahoma City. This position is essential for ensuring accurate documentation and coding of trauma-related data, contributing to effective trauma care and reporting.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of a Health Information Management baccalaureate program OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in a health-related field, which includes coding, abstracting data, or emergency room activities.
Experience:
Proficiency in medical terminology is required.
Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations:
Must have previously completed or be willing to attend within 12 months of hire the following courses:
-The American Trauma Society's Trauma Registrar Course (or equivalent provided by a state trauma program)
-The Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine's Injury Scaling Course
-ICD-10 Coding Course (must be refreshed every 5 years)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of trauma registry principles, medical records practices, and relevant policies and procedures.
Expertise in indexing, classification, and staging systems.
Deep understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology related to trauma care.
Advanced skills in database management, including abstracting and coding trauma-related data from medical records and laboratory reports.
Proficient in report writing.
Excellent computer skills and interpersonal communication abilities.
