Director of Operations - Composite Pipe Manufacturing (Mobile, AL, US)
This role is responsible for the general management and operations for composite pipe Manufacturing. The focus is on the client's flagship site in Mobile, AL manufacturing plant (approx. 80-100 people) and senior leadership support to Ohio and Virginia operations. This includes achieving financial, production and business plan results. Reporting to this role in Mobile, AL is the production, production engineering, estimating, project management, drafting, safety, quality and purchasing teams. This role works collaboratively across the organization to ensure that operations are effective and efficient.

For more than fifty years our client has been supplying engineered composite solutions into industrial facilities that process corrosive and often hazardous fluids. Hundreds of piping, tank, and vessel installations in more than 45 countries around the world are the best demonstration of their experience in providing composite solutions for corrosive fluid handling, storage, and infrastructure challenges. There are a number of locales as they've acquired a few companies in southern Ontario as well as their US sites too. The owners are a hugely successful private family capital corporation with amazing business smarts and very progressive in their desire for continual learning amongst all of the assets they own including this one!
What you will do:
Oversee the day-to-day operations:
Ensures the achievement of financial, production and business goals
Reports on and manages to KPIs - (Productivity Index, Resource Utilization, On time delivery, % EBITDA)
Evaluates and improves overall performance
Strengthen the competitive position of the plant to enable growth through new business
Strong coordination with the Field Services group
Provides leadership and coordinates the work of:
Production team
Production Engineering
Project Management and Estimating
Safety
Quality Assurance
Purchasing
Drafting
General Managers of Ohio and Virginia operations
Ensures client expectations are met or exceeded in product quality, cost, and delivery
Collaborates with the sales team to meet client needs
Participating in key customer relationships
Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures; creates a safe and secure work environment
Oversees and adheres to organizational programs and policies related to Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Environmental Health and Safety
Collaboratively works across the organization for maximum effectiveness and efficiency
Oversees people management:
Employee hiring, training and development, providing guidance and coaching to supervisors
Provides coaching and feedback, manages the performance and development of team members; creates a culture of accountability
Fosters team member engagement and supports an environment of respect, trust, and high performance
Manages and leads process improvement and enterprise initiatives
Sponsors and/or leads key enterprise initiatives
Digitalization and automation
Identify and drive local process improvement initiatives
Support integration with RPS Operations
Identify and support opportunities for centralized, coordinated and/or shared resources
Support team building with Field Services Operations to ensure a harmonized product and servicing offering to clients
Participate or lead other projects as required

This role reports to the COO (North America).Other relationships:Senior Leadership Team, Production Teams in in Mobile, AL, Clients, Vendors & Suppliers.

What you will bring:
Engineering Degree, or applicable post-secondary education
Proven experience in production/manufacturing leadership and management within similar space
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of working in a manufacturing environment
Experience working with composite materials in a production environment would be preferred and considered an asset.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with ability to create a high performing team
Ability to be strategic yet be hands on if/when necessary to ensure overall results
Embraces continuous improvement and innovation and demonstrates strong change management capability
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrates systems thinking with ability to implement organizational wide processes

Must have a valid passport with ability to travel within North America
