Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Procurement Specialist to join our team! This role is responsible for negotiating, managing, and optimizing the procurement of raw materials for manufacturing. The ideal candidate has strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of purchasing procedures, and the ability to maintain vendor relationships while ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Analysis & Competitive Purchasing: Evaluate cost proposals and pricing details to ensure the best procurement decisions.
Procurement Management: Acquire goods and services in compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
Inventory Oversight: Partner with managers to monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock.
Vendor Negotiations & Contract Administration: Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts and purchase orders with vendors.
Compare vendor bids and assist in the selection of contract awardees.
Maintain accurate purchasing documents with reasonable terms.
Vendor Performance & Compliance: Maintain vendor records, including pricing histories and performance evaluations.
Assess vendor proposals to ensure alignment with company requirements.
Verify contract terms and delivery schedules for accuracy and efficiency.
Evaluate vendor competency and review invoices for accuracy.
Quality & Data Management: Track and analyze vendor performance and product quality using a database.
Ensure all purchases meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Other Duties: Perform additional procurement-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience (required).
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of contract principles and procurement procedures.
Experience purchasing resins, labels, and components in a plastics manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
Soft Skills: Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
