Wood is currently recruiting for an Instrument, Electrical, & Controls Project Engineer to join its Oil, Gas, & New Energies business for facility-based projects in an active chemical manufacturing plant as part of the plant's capital projects group, located in Richmond, VA.

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing facility-based projects in an active chemical manufacturing plant as part of the plant's capital projects group. The Role The Project Engineer will provide electrical engineering for and manage small facility-based projects. The role involves performing engineering in support of project teams and managing others while meeting safety, cost, and schedule goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Key responsibilities:

  • Accountable for demonstrating site and business core values of safety, health & environment, quality, people treatment, and ethics.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute safety, improvement and obsolescence plans for control and electrical equipment.
  • Assist in day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting of control and electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate front end work leading up to the capital design phase of the project.
  • Lead the development of overall project scope, execution strategy, and cost estimate for funds request.
  • Prepare progress reports as needed.
  • Perform Engineering reviews as required.
  • Manages and executes electrical and controls projects.
  • Provides electrical engineering representation for engineering and capital work.
  • Provides engineering support prior to and during maintenance outages.
  • Assists in support and development of site utilities.
  • Gatekeeper for maintenance MOC process as applicable to electrical and control systems.
  • Accountable for understanding OSHA, PSM and electrical code standards for control/electrical equipment and translating them into site procedures.

Expected:

  • Candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Controls Engineering, with 6+ years of industry related experience.
  • Experience around electrical controls - automation.
  • Experience working on and leading maintenance activities for medium/high voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Advanced understanding of automation and control systems such as: Reliance DCS, Wonderware, Honeywell Experion, and ControlLogix.
  • Advanced understanding of AC and DC drives.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or other drafting software.
  • Experience setting up a Control Loop.
  • Experience programming automation and control systems.
  • Electrical engineering / automation experience in manufacturing / industrial environments.
  • Knowledge and experience working with older, obsolete DCS systems.
  • Able to plan and organize projects from inception to start up.
  • Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong safety champion who will lead the project in achieving zero incidents and injuries.
  • Self-motivated/Self-directed.
  • Able to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards relating to electrical, instrumentation, and control systems as well as other pertinent engineering standards.
