Job Description:
Conceptualize, develop, implement, and maintain new and existing product designs using sound mechanical engineering principles in support of company business development efforts, marketing plans and department plans. Analyze specifications, as well as business, technology & cost requirements, and implement appropriate, approved designs in a timely and cost-effective manner. Take steps necessary to ensure product reliability, performance, and customer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conceptualize and develop material handling products using sound mechanical engineering principles
Adhere to suitable design and documentation practices and methodologies
Develop and maintain cost projections against an established target throughout the development cycle
Provide quality assurance for output as well as serving as a cross-checking resource
Supervise functional as well as accelerated life testing to ensure product reliability and performance
Support customers in product use and application as required
Support vendors in product and sub-component fabrication as required
Adhere to project timelines and budgets
Participate in PD department projects as assigned
Participate on company teams as assigned
Assist in the development of specifications for new product requests and enhancements
Provide support and documentation to enable company staff to quote and source materials
Create, publish, and maintain departmental procedures as assigned
Participate in the identification and recommendation of new material handling technology solutions
Serve as a technical resource to other departments as required
Create and maintain CAD solid models, assemblies, and detailed drawings in SolidWorks
Maintain historical 2D CAD detail drawings in AutoCAD
Develop and maintain supporting design calculations
Specify & document product reliability test protocols
Perform FEA (Finite Element Analysis) using SolidWorks Simulation
Create and maintain product bills of material and routings in CSI9 (CloudSuite Industrial)
Execute ECN's (Engineering Change Notices) as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
4-year Mechanical Engineering Degree
2+ years of professional experience minimum
Ability to meet tight deadlines with high quality requirements
Project and task management skills
Strong communication skills (Verbal & Written)
Problem solving skills
SolidWorks experience, preferred
FEA using SolidWorks Simulation experience, preferred
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) experience, preferred
Microsoft Teams experience, preferred

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Gorbel, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
