The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations (assembly, machining, gauge and laboratory) which includes the quality control functions, control plan compliance, and quality testing for all production shifts. The candidate should monitor the process compliance and be able to identify any emerging issue, promptly communicate and develop a containment strategy to protect the customer.
Specific Roles & Responsibilities:
First responder to floor quality calls.
Oversee manufacturing floor and monitor processes to ensure quality.
Respond to potential quality issues, gather important critical information necessary to accurately assess the situation, and make the determination if downstream customer is impacted.
Develop initial containment strategy for emerging issues, quarantine components/engines as necessary to stop the flow of defects to the customer.
Work with production operations to quickly determine the dirty/clean points and release any conforming material.
Engage other plant resources (Resident Engineering, Supplier Quality, Plant Engineering) for Quality Control issues, to help determine the potential scope of the problem.
Work with Resident Engineering for disposition of non-conforming material.
Issue, request and approve process deviations as necessary and push for closure.
Manage the activities of the 3rd party inspection at the end of line & on the outbound shipping dock. Ensure corporate standards are followed.
Attend production meetings and ensure clear communication handoffs from shift to shift.
Ensure part cleanliness checks are completed per requirements and reactions are taken per corporate standards.
Manage / directly supervise skilled trades CMM and Gauge Technicians
Ensure appropriate skilled trades manpower to support daily activities.
Employee time-keeping administration.
Manage disciplinary measures required.
Manage training for skilled trades CMM and Gauge to ensure strong competency within group.
Schedule overtime to cover manufacturing requirements.
Understand and issue work within the UAW guidelines for skilled trades, understanding of the contract.
Manage Quarantines / Lot Release
Manage quarantine follow-up through repairs, testing and release. Responsible for record management and release of Quarantines. Records of quality issue resolutions, testing/inspection activities must be documented to support the release of quarantine. Escalate and communicate effectively scope of issues.
Follow corporate quality standards.
Set up short term countermeasures for nonconforming conditions found, or when the customer is at risk.
Provide Quality documentation as required (e.g. Quality Alerts)
Other
Maintain current and accurate data for quarantines, repairs, and teardowns.
Dock Audit release engines from quarantine after repair(s) are performed.
Review and approve standardized work documents and maintain controlled documents.
Record any campaign or special offline repairs.
Prepare required daily/shift communications as needed.
