The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for Visiting Assistant Professor in the Behavioral Neuroscience area.


The Visiting Assistant Professor will contribute to the teaching mission of the Psychology department's Behavioral Neuroscience program by teaching an introductory-level course on Behavioral Neuroscience, coordination of a research methods course, and teaching upper-level, topic-specific courses in areas such as stress and psychopathology. Additional duties include: monitoring and mentoring teaching assistants, holding office hours to meet with students outside of class time, writing and grading examinations, and assigning grades.


Although this position is primarily focused on contributing to the teaching needs of the program, there will also be opportunities to engage in service activities appropriate to academic rank and collaboration on ongoing research projects in the behavioral neuroscience program area.



Required Qualifications



Ph.D by the time the appointment begins, evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate students, specific experiences teaching behavioral neuroscience material, broad knowledge of and research experience in Behavioral Neuroscience and evidence of scholarly productivity commensurate with experience


Salary & Appointment Information


This is a 100% full-time, 9-month appointment, non-tenure track position. The expected start date is 8/16/2025. The budgeted salary range for the position is $62,500 to $70,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs. It is a one-year appointment and renewal of the position is possible and contingent on availability of funding, strong enrollments, and strong performance reviews. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
