Director of Supportive Oncology

Salary Range: Associate Professor: $ 201,842 - 254,929 a year; Professor: $229,812 - $298,351 a year

 

The University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine, Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, is searching for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor on the School of Medicine track to serve as Director of Supportive Oncology. The appointee will be responsible for the development, expansion, management, and alignment of services reflected in a patient’s cancer journey as we further broaden our cancer service line, including additional network locations and the new cancer center building in Hyde Park. The appointee will further develop integrative medicine capabilities to ensure that our patients receive comprehensive cancer care. These include coordination with social services, therapy services, nutrition, medical oncology, radiation oncology, integrative medicine, lifestyle medicine, surgical oncology, psychiatry, psychology, case management, palliative and hospice care, survivorship, and community-based support services. This position will also support the addition of ambulatory and inpatient capacity in the Section of Palliative Medicine, which intends to grow as oncology broadens its footprint across the health system. The appointee will provide inpatient and outpatient palliative medicine consultation. Other duties include leading quality improvement initiatives and contributing to scholarship as well as participating in the education of trainees. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
