Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $15.67.

This position is responsible for communicating and supporting JM core values and delivering the JM experience.

The Utility Operator performs several duties, including, but not limited to, following written and verbal instructions, and making decisions using good judgment based on prevailing conditions. The job requires the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the JM Life Critical Policies (Lock-Tag-Clear-Try; Line Breaking; Confined Space; Fall Protection; Arc Flash, Live Electrical Work; and working while under the influence).
  • Must be able to wear protective clothing and equipment as required to complete the functions of the job assignments.
  • Assist in the leadership of the production crew in meeting all monthly safety metric goals.
  • Ensure all equipment and work areas are always clean and orderly.
  • Trains production members on Product Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, and Plant Rules.
  • Follow the Job Safety Analyses, use safe work practices, and report hazardous conditions always.
  • Understand product specifications and manufacturing standards
  • Drives predictive and preventive maintenance activities within scope of department.
  • Understands and utilizes the RCCA/5Why Process.
  • Support the reorganization projects with the goal of reducing scrap and waste.
  • Performs/manages daily & weekly environmental inspections
  • May be part of the sites Hazardous Waste Management Team.
  • Experienced in all SAP functions required within the Production function of the plant.
  • May be part of the sites Emergency Response Team.
  • Lead the production team in the transitions from one product to the next.
  • Understand how to manufacture all products.
  • Be a back-up Shipping Warehouse Operator to assist in unloading and loading trucks.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities for direct reports for this position, but this person must have the skills to interact as a leader with all plant department employees.

Requirements: (education, skills, and abilities)

  • Must meet all production operator requirements
  • High School diploma
  • Working knowledge of software programs such as spreadsheet, word processing and data base programs
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and handle multiple priorities and project

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements of this position are: (these requirements are typical for most of our manufacturing roles)

  • The ability to stand for extended periods
  • The ability to manually lift, push or pull at least 50 pounds safely and with proper body mechanics, sometimes while in awkward positions.
  • Use of hands (repetitive motion, grabbing, feeling, sensing, pulling)
  • The ability to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful work environment
  • The ability to safely and effectively work in an often-dusty work environment that experiences a broad range of temperatures (very hot to very cold).
  • The ability to withstand the rigors of working a 12(or 8)-hour rotating shift schedule.
  • The ability to bend, stoop or kneel repetitively.
  • The ability to reach or work above the shoulder
