POSITION REPORTS TO: Associate Dean, General Studies
Location: Menominee High School, Menominee, MI -OR- Virtual (applicants need to be residents of Wisconsin or Michigan)
Modality: In Person or Online Live, plus Self-paced Online
Schedule: 16-weeks per semester, 4 hours per week per section (3-hours direct instruction + 1-hour NET language lab)
Salary: $45.00 per class hour contracted

POSITION SUMMARY
NWTC is seeking to hire one or more part-time faculty to teach Spanish courses for a K12 partner in Menominee, Michigan. In-Person instruction is preferred; however, Online Live (web-conference) instruction is an option to provide flexibility to candidates who reside a distance beyond that of being considered local to the Menominee, MI community.
Part-Time faculty are an integral part of the College's staff, helping us provide all learners with the highest quality learning opportunities when, where and how they want it. Upon successful submission of your application, you will be considered for a part-time faculty opportunity supporting our K12 partner, Menominee High School.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment of learning outcomes.
Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom.
Maintain accurate student records and communication.
Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals. This includes being accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time.
Provide educational leadership and work effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff.
Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.
Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery.
Additional duties and responsibilities will be discussed as needs arise.
Must be willing to commit to all required course contact hours, for each class assignment as scheduled.
Responsible for maintaining curriculum rigor in alignment with state requirements.
Required to manage the instructional process, to include but not limited to: course preparation, student attendance records, student assessment, grading, and must be accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time (to include electronic communications as well as in-person meetings).
Final grades posted within 72-hours of course completion.
Areas of instruction to be covered could include (but not limited to):
10-802-104 SPANISH 101 ...Learners begin an introduction to the five key components of language study
(listening/understanding, speaking, reading, writing, and culture). Task-based instruction emphasizes
pronunciation, grammar essentials, basic conversation, and cultural aspects of the people who speak Spanish in the US and around the world. Language skills are reinforced through required and individual lab practice required.
10-802-105 SPANISH 102 … Learners expand their developing language skills by continuing the
development of vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar essentials. Use of the target language in conversion, reading, and writing increases. Includes additional history and cultural aspects of the people who speak Spanish in the US and around the world. Task-based instruction and individual lab practice required.
Within 24-hours, maintain electronic communication with students and staff, in regard to course information, through NWTC email and/or Canvas.
Work effectively with General Studies department faculty and staff members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Master's degree from an accredited institution in the discipline or subfield being taught or a Master's degree 18 graduate credits in Spanish.
High level of fluency in reading, writing and speaking Spanish.
Teaching experience, specifically with adult learners, desirable.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Previous teaching experience with adult learners is preferred
Ability to work non-standard hours including evening and weekend hours

* Visual and Auditory: Ability to read documents and communicate effectively with students and staff.
* Light Lifting: Capability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
