Nature & Purpose of Position:

The Sam Houston Athletics Sports Information office is looking for students interested in joining the Athletics Sports Information team. The Athletics Sports Information team is searching for potential candidates with a love for Sam Houston Athletics and college athletics as a whole.


Preferred candidates include those who have an inclination or interest in media relations, social media, sports statistics and notes, and historical aspects of Bearkat and NCAA sports.



Duties would include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with in-game statistics at Bearkat Athletic events


• Researching and compiling historical stats and data regarding Sam Houston's Athletic programs for use in game notes, game broadcasts and to showcase on social media


• Assist with the coordination of interviews for Sam Houston's student-athletes, coaches and athletics personnel


• Writing game stories, preview stories and/or feature stories for GoBearkats.com


• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletics Media

Although office hours will be included, this position will include the working of events, which often includes nights, weekends, and holiday work at campus athletic venues.
Other Requirements for the Position:

Pursuit towards a degree in mass communications are not required, but is preferred.When applying, please list your major and if applicable, which mass communications classes you have been enrolled in. Production samples may also be requested at the time of the interview.
