Job Description:

The Department of Romance Languages at Binghamton University is seeking to hire a lecturer in French, beginning in August 2025, to teach courses primarily at the elementary and intermediate levels. This is a full-time position (up to a three-year contract) with possible renewal. The teaching load is three courses per semester during the academic year. Language courses at the elementary and intermediate levels are taught with coordination throughout the department. Apart from teaching, this position involves departmental service, which includes working with and mentoring students outside the classroom (e.g., conversation tables, internships, special event programming). Thus, in addition to teaching, the position requires an interest in interacting with students outside the classroom and working with colleagues to develop innovative extracurricular projects.

The lecturer is expected to actively contribute to the University's mission of advancing a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching and service, as well as through engagement with faculty, students, and staff.

  • Native or near-native fluency in both French and English.

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching under the guidance of a coordinator and in close collaboration with colleagues.
