What You'll Do:


As an MCI Counselor, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensuring they are quickly connected to the right services and resources across the BHN network and broader community.



Key Responsibilities:

• Answer and triage incoming crisis calls with professionalism and empathy.


• Provide de-escalation support and assess immediate needs of callers.


• Gather and verify demographic and insurance information for individuals served.


• Coordinate and assign appropriate mobile crisis clinicians for field assessments.


• Provide short-term follow-up and case management to support connections to services.


• Maintain contact as the primary liaison throughout the individual's crisis response process.


• Facilitate referrals and coordinate care with internal and external service providers.


• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulations.


• Support and train new staff and interns in care coordination processes.

What You'll Bring:

• 
  Bachelor's Degree in a related mental health field (Social Work or Psychology required).


• 
  Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a behavioral health setting.


• 
  Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.


• 
  Knowledge of mental illness, crisis intervention, substance use, and care coordination models.


• Strong phone, organizational, and documentation skills.


• 
  Familiarity with community-based behavioral health resources across Western Massachusetts.


• Willingness and ability to serve individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
