What You'll Do:
As an MCI Counselor, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensuring they are quickly connected to the right services and resources across the BHN network and broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
Answer and triage incoming crisis calls with professionalism and empathy.
Provide de-escalation support and assess immediate needs of callers.
Gather and verify demographic and insurance information for individuals served.
Coordinate and assign appropriate mobile crisis clinicians for field assessments.
Provide short-term follow-up and case management to support connections to services.
Maintain contact as the primary liaison throughout the individual's crisis response process.
Facilitate referrals and coordinate care with internal and external service providers.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulations.
Support and train new staff and interns in care coordination processes.

What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's Degree in a related mental health field (Social Work or Psychology required).
Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a behavioral health setting.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Knowledge of mental illness, crisis intervention, substance use, and care coordination models.
Strong phone, organizational, and documentation skills.
Familiarity with community-based behavioral health resources across Western Massachusetts.
Willingness and ability to serve individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
