General Position Description:
This position provides regional leadership for the Student Success Department. Collaborates with college leaders on the design, implementation, and evaluation of coaching outcomes, systems, and strategies. Subject matter expertise providing guidance and support to Student Success coaching aligned to department and college goals. Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance daily.

Description of Job Function:
1. Provides leadership and expertise for the Student Success department within assigned region. Serves as the primary point of contact for staff and faculty in the region, providing guidance for student success initiatives.

2. Charged with working on the creation of tools to measure and assess department goals. Evaluates the effectiveness of information obtained and uses data to identify trends to support decision-making.

3. In collaboration with relevant college leaders, creates and implements the coaching curriculum, including holistic and proactive strategies to help increase student progression, retention, graduation, and transfer success.

4. Designs and implements academic coaching processes and procedures for Student Success Coaches, faculty, and staff. Collaborates with OIT and software solution partners to maintain and improve systems.

5. Assesses student engagement reports and surveys routinely to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies; identifies patterns and areas of concern to ensure students experience a supportive educational environment.

6. Manages assigned staff including conducting performance reviews and providing guidance and support to increase staff members' professional development, job performance, and satisfaction. Trains staff on established procedures and communicates with staff to ensure implementation of initiatives.

7. Leads the design and facilitation of training sessions on the effective use of technologies and student engagement tools within their region. Ensures information provided is routinely updated, accurate and consistent.

8. Monitors advising grievances and/or challenges creating barriers to students' college success. Resolve issues escalated by members of the team.

9. Provides direction and guidance for new student onboarding programs and activities.

Required Minimum Education:
Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.
Other Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity in academicadvising/student success coaching or related area.
Preferred Education & Field of Study:
Student personnel, counseling and guidance, student services, higher educationadministration or related field.
Preferred Type of Experience:
Experience with staff development and evaluation.

Experience in higher education at a public institution and/or community college.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of two-year college programs, as well as university transfer requirements. Knowledge of strategies and methodologies related to academic coaching or advising, career advising and curriculum development. Skill in the use of personal computers and related office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Skill in effectively communicating, interpersonally, orally, in writing, and through group facilitation. Ability to organize work, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to research, analyze, and interpret information to make valid decisions, resolve problems, and strategically plan for future needs. Ability to lead, supervise, and develop assigned staff. Ability to prepare related reports, presentations, and training. Ability to work in a collaborative and team environment.
General Working Conditions:
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
