PLANNER/SCIENTIST
JOB POSTING
The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, the nationally regarded regional planning
agency for the seven county greater Milwaukee area, and the designated Metropolitan Planning
Organization for the five urban areas within Southeastern Wisconsin, is seeking applicants for a full-time
Water Resources Planner/Scientist. The Commission is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our
diverse team of planners, engineers and scientists focused on addressing issues that transcend the
political boundaries and fiscal capabilities of individual communities. The successful individual will be part
of an interdisciplinary team conducting water resource management planning projects.

staff with a wide range of expertise is focused on continuously improving the quality of life for the Region.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting work on the Chloride Impact Study and Regional Water Quality Management Plan
• Analyzing water quality data and completing statistical evaluations
• Writing technical reports and memorandums
• Completing research on a variety of water resources and environmental topics
• Collaborating with Commission staff
• Supporting occasional environmental field work
CORE REQUIREMENTS
• A bachelor's degree in biology, aquatic science, natural or water resources or a closely related
field with either three (3) years of related work experience or a relevant master's degree
• A master's or doctoral degree in the aforementioned areas of study with course work in stream
ecology, hydrology, statistics, chemistry, groundwater, or fisheries preferred
• Ability to work with a diverse team; ability to mentor entry level staff preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft software, R statistical software, and ESRI mapping and analytics (ArcGIS
Pro)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $80,000 depending upon education, experience, and
placement with the organizational structure. A salary exceeding this range may be considered for highly
