Position Description
Cost Estimation & Bid Preparation:
Develop detailed cost estimates for CNC projects, accounting for materials, labor, machining time, tooling, and setups for milling, turning, and multi-tasking machines.
Prepare competitive bids and proposals that align with project specifications and quality standards.
Technical Analysis:
Read and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T, and assess quality control requirements.
Evaluate machining practices such as material removal rates, material types, tooling, and setups.
Business Development:
Leverage an established network of industry contacts to expand our customer base.
Cultivate strong client relationships through effective communication and follow-up, ensuring repeat business and high customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with the production team to optimize manufacturability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Market Monitoring:
Stay updated on market trends, material costs, and evolving CNC machining technologies to ensure competitive estimates.
Position Requirements
Extensive experience in CNC machining estimation within a contract manufacturing environment. Required
Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T specifications. Required
Deep understanding of machining practices, including material removal rates, tooling, and setups for milling, turning, and multi-tasking CNC machines. Required
Demonstrated track record in business development with a robust network of industry contacts. Required
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Required
Proficiency in cost estimation software and CAD/CAM tools. Required
Experience in a dual role that combines technical estimating with customer acquisition. Preferred
Familiarity with quality control standards such as AS9100. Preferred
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to secure favorable work terms. Preferred
