The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team, teaching WASH (Workshop in Art Studio and History) classes. WASH is a nine-credit hour program that includes 2 studio courses (Surface Studio & Space Studio) and a lecture course emphasizing contemporary art and theory. We are seeking candidates who have a commitment to teaching and developing curriculum in Foundations with the ability to teach formal skills and concept development as well as the ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
The workload of the Lecturer includes teaching 3 - 4 courses per semester. Assisting with the management of the WASH studio, foundations programming, and related service to the department such as assessment of the program and BFA student portfolios, documentation student work and maintenance of WASH archives, and participation in faculty meetings.
The ideal candidates will be artists working in sculpture, new media, installation, performance and video, hybrid forms, or who have innovative approaches that expand the boundaries of traditional mediums in their practice. The ability to teach Sculpture or other 3D courses is a strongly preferred. Educational Requirements for the Position: Applicants possess an MFA in Art or terminal degree in a related field.
Experience Required for the Position: Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is strongly preferred. Experience teaching 3D, installation, new media, or performance and video is also strongly preferred. Experience team teaching is a plus.
Other Requirements for the Position: The successful candidate will have an ongoing, sustainable, and engaged art practice, and be prepared to be an active faculty member who is engaged with the department, college, university, local and professional communities.
