This role ensures the organization complies with all current environmental and safety regulations by working to develop, implement, monitor, and manage environmental and safety programs, policies, and procedures. Identifies potential conditions that could create an environmental violation or result in unsafe working conditions and takes steps necessary to remove or mitigate those risks. Maintains environmental and safety records and may interface with regulatory inspectors on behalf of Altec Industries. Leads effective continuous improvement activities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises two or more associates within the department
Responds promptly to emergency events involving associate injury, environmental release, or property damage
Reports all incidents, leads investigation efforts, delivers communications, and implements corrective actions
Oversees environmental and safety compliance inspections and routine internal audits as needed for all aspects of the environmental, safety and health program
Monitors compliance with air emissions, emissions tracking and reporting requirements and assists with permitting for air, storm water and waste regulations
Reviews and evaluates policies and procedures to verify compliance with applicable standards and regulations
Directs some of the safety and environmental decisions for the campus with limited guidance from management
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures records are prepared and maintained according to established guidelines
Prepares and submits all required environmental and safety reports to various governmental agencies
Identifies environmental and safety training needs and ensures that appropriate training takes place
Assists in spill clean-ups and coordinates waste pickup and disposal with approved service providers
Participates in and/or leads safety and environmental RCI events and completes assigned projects from those events
Other duties as required
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma required
Bachelor's Degree and four years Altec experience, supervision & safety preferred or
Bachelor's Degree and four years industrial safety related supervision or
Three years Altec Supervision with five years total applicable experience, or
Eight years external industrial safety related supervision required
Must be willing to travel up to 25% of time, potentially on short notice, which may include air travel
Current Valid Driver's License
Internal candidates will be an associate in good standing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite and other office management applications required
Must be able to collaborate with teams and with minimal supervision
Maintain Company and Associate confidentiality
Ability to become First Responder, CPR, HAZWOPER, OSHA30, and forklift operator certified
