Description: Our manufacturing client is currently seeking a Production Supervisor on swing shift. This position will directly supervises nine employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Shift schedule and hours - Swing shift, 4 days on day shift then off for 4 days and then the next 4 days are night shift .8am-8pm and then 8pm to 8am.
Number of direct reports - 11 associates
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate shift activities to ensure the safe and efficient production of film according to quality specifications. Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and other Shift Supervisors to adapt to changing equipment, schedules, and operator conditions.
Supervise all aspects of shift employees' roles, ensuring operations adhere to standard procedures. Track and account for all products, including finished goods, scrap, reclaimed materials, and work in process, on a shift-by-shift basis.
Manage pellet inventory and production schedules, and oversee silo management.
Ensure employee productivity, training, quality, food safety, hygiene, and personal safety. Lead by example, ensuring adherence to work instructions and plant safety procedures to produce high-quality products safely and efficiently.
Monitor employee attendance and fill vacant positions as needed by pre-scheduling or calling in overtime workers. Provide coaching and counseling to help operators address performance issues.
Input production reports each shift, monitor and record machine conditions, and check temperatures. Participate in the review and revision of standard operating procedures, directives, and work instructions. Complete the Master cleaning schedule for each shift.
Serve as a resource for process adjustments to maintain quality. Direct and coordinate all available shift resources to ensure maximum quality, optimal production rates, and minimal scrap. Act as the operational alternate in the absence of the Production Manager.
Conduct internal audits of plant departments, issue corrective actions, and document verification evidence. Ensure compliance with BRC/IOP Standards for Packaging by production employees. Perform additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 2 years of experience as a production supervisor in a manufacturing plant
Competent in basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to create and interpret bar graphs.
Proficient in Inventory software, Order processing systems, Microsoft Excel, and Word Processing software.
Experience with plastic injection molding, blow molding, or blown film extrusion would be ideal.
