Job Description:

Job Purpose:



Our Kitting Distribution Supervisor will be responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring the day to day kitting operational activities for a team to ensure a competitive service advantage is achieved by maintaining a high degree of accuracy and customer service. This role may also participate in the development and execution of business strategies with an understanding of the requirements for an effective kitting support team.



Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in the daily operations of the department, to include but not limited to, addressing order and/or inventory issues, pull, pack, stage or convert orders for shipment using computer generated work orders and package material for shipment according to shipping requirements and/or customer specified instruction.
• Assist in monitoring and adjusting employee schedules and workloads to enhance efficiencies and ensure high-priority tasks are achieved, motivating and holding the team accountable for achieving goals and addressing employee relations issues should they arise, adhering to and enforcing all company policies/procedures, etc.
• Maintain a culture of safety that follows the organization's Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) policies to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to oneself and others in the workplace. Instruct the team in safe working methods and escalate serious issues as appropriate.
• Load or unload trucks making sure that: truck is chocked or otherwise secured before attempting to unload and load the product; the truck bed is clear of debris, obstruction, or defect for safe entry/exit; incoming product is free from damage and coincides with the packing list or Return Authorization; and freight is properly positioned and secured in the truck.
• Using the locator system, put away product that has been received and assist customers who arrive at the dock to pick up or return merchandise. Receipt and shipment of orders must be accurate and meet company standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and optimize cost effectiveness.
• Production must meet company requirements.



Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

• Uses required Personal Protective Equipment: harness & tether when operating order picker, safety glasses when working with strapping or on reach trucks; cut proof gloves when handling steel strapping; and safety shoes at all times, which must meet ANSIZ75 standard.
• Ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment is required, including, but not limited to, order pickers, reach trucks, runners and forklifts.
• Familiarity with a computerized warehouse system is preferred.
• Strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail is required.



Work Experience:

• 0-1 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
• 3-5 years of related job experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Basic experience of simple office/operational systems.
• Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
• Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
• Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
• Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
• Must possess a thorough understanding of the distribution business.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).
• Strong planning and organization skills are required.
• Warehouse experience required preferably working in a distribution environment.



Education:

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred



Working Conditions:

The work environment for this position requires:
• Regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur.
• Exposure to loud noise.
• Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.



Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements listed below are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• Ability to lift, twist and carry up 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
• Walking/Standing - walk throughout the warehouse to complete customer orders. Stand when operating order picker or reach truck equipment and when operating cutter.
• Sitting - sit only when driving sit-down material handling equipment.
• Lifting - lift items weighing a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance .
• Stooping - performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations. May bend at the waist.
• Kneeling - kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.


*** The shift for this position is Monday-Friday, 3pm to 12am (Midnight).
