The Senior Energy Analyst is responsible for supporting the activities of the Global Sustainability team related to the Energy Transition of the marine and offshore industries. The Sustainability Energy Analyst gathers, supports, evaluates, organizes, and reports on energy transition related data and industry-wide sustainability, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, electrification of marine vessels and offshore units. The responsibilities also include participating in discussions with ABS's sustainability leadership team about fundamental forecast modeling and recognizing market trends.
The Senior Energy Analyst generates reports and market insights for an array of ABS related initiatives as well as in support of clients' projects. The analyst is also capable of evaluating the value and impact of various energy systems.
What You Will Do:
Maintains a solid understanding of emerging regulatory frameworks related to marine and offshore decarbonization.
Understands the role that alternative fuels and energy efficiency technologies play in the decarbonization efforts of the industry and supports the department's activities in these sectors.
Performs market research, business analysis, data analysis in the fields of renewable energy, GHG reduction, Alternate Fuels, marine and offshore technology applications, and other topics as directed.
Designs and manages data structures to streamline the collection and organization of diverse, extensive data.
Defines, builds, and tests automation solutions for gathering, organizing, and storing internal and external data related to the maritime and offshore industries energy transition.
Supports the different projects, services, and other activities within the department.
Interacts with clients to perform services offered by the Global Sustainability team.
Establishes and manages client projects.
Updates and informs the Global Sustainability team on regulatory changes and impact on ABS business.
Conducts seminars and workshops as well as attends industry events and conferences related to the energy transition and its applications on marine vessels and offshore units.
Contributes to authoring ABS publications and thought leadership documents.
What You Will Need:
Typically requires five or more years of experience in the assigned area of responsibility or market sector.
Previous experience in sustainability related energy and data analysis is preferred.
International experience, either as an expatriate or working with international projects and teams, is preferred.
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree (or recognized equivalent) in Engineering or Science of a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Data management skills, encompassing statistical and database software tools, and programming languages like Python, R., SQL, or similar.
Experienced in handling both structured and unstructured datasets, including statistical data, and proficiency in database design.
Experienced with researching, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data accurately and timely.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen interest in energy and decarbonization. particularly centered on the maritime and offshore sectors.
Strong knowledge of current sustainability best practice, initiatives and key market drivers including but not limited to carbon net zero and circular economy.
Must possess excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
Must be able to travel.
Must be capable of presenting and working with clients.
Ability to work well with others.
Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to a Manager, Director, or Executive level position.
