Job Description:

Position: Security Analyst III

Location: Madison, WI

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week | Hybrid - Onsite 2x/week, remainder remote



Rate: $40-50/hour


Duration: 1 year, with strong likelihood of additional year extension

Interview Format: Microsoft Teams (camera required)




Top Required Skills & Experience (8+ years):

• CrowdStrike administration - Expert level


• Tenable administration - Expert level


• Strong attention to detail


• Excellent communication (written and verbal)

Nice to Have:

• CISSP or equivalent - 1 year


• Security risk assessment experience

Position Summary:



Under the general guidance of the IT Operations Manager, this position is responsible for growing and operating the agency's IT Security Program. The Security Analyst III will serve as an expert resource and is expected to be familiar with a wide variety of IT security concepts, practices, and technologies.


This position includes responsibilities such as:

• Managing the security design, implementation, monitoring, and incident response for networks, servers, storage, applications, databases, and endpoints.


• Leading security-related projects and implementing new controls and technologies.


• Assisting with the creation of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.


• Performing risk assessments and recommending remediation strategies.

Regular Duties Include:

• Administering CrowdStrike and Tenable platforms


• Performing IT security risk assessments


• Monitoring asset inventory, vulnerability dashboards, and policy violations


• Authoring and updating IT security policies and procedures


• Coordinating with technical teams to implement or remediate security measures


• Managing incident response queues


• Adjusting endpoint firewall operations as needed

Note: Candidates must either reside in Wisconsin or be willing to relocate to the Madison area at their own expense before the start date.
