The Town of Mashpee Department of Natural Resources welcomes applications for part time Shellfish Technicians; $20.00/hour. Position works up to 19 hours/week in the shoulder season (early-October through late-May) then transfers to a seasonal position, up to 40 hours/week, including weekends, holidays, and some evenings from late-May through early-October. Positions open until filled.
Minimum Requirements: High School Graduate or GED. Knowledge of shellfish aquaculture; or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Knowledge of boating, waterway and shellfish laws, Mashpee Town By-laws. Must be a minimum age of eighteen (18). Must possess a valid MA driver's license (Class D) and MA Boating Safety Certification. Must possess current CPR and First Aid certifications or obtain upon appointment. Must successfully pass a C.O.R.I. background check.
Responsibilities: Assists the Department of Natural Resources with general and technical work relating to aquaculture and propagation of shellfish, protection of the shellfishery, and other related work as required. May also assist in Water Quality sampling and monitoring.
