Overview
The HR Compliance Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing policies that ensure the organization adheres to legal and regulatory standards in human resources practices. This role requires proactive collaboration with international teams to track and analyze laws affecting global business operations, while taking ownership of the U.S. HR compliance program. The Compliance Manager conducts global HR audits, manages the company's US immigration program, and contributes to the development of HR policies that comply with legislation such as EEO, FMLA, and FLSA.
Responsibilities
• Track and analyze international laws affecting HR practices and business operations, advising management and global teams on necessary adjustments to remain compliant across all jurisdictions.
• Own the U.S. immigration program, ensuring that all activities are fully compliant with U.S. immigration laws and regulations, and aligning global practices with these requirements.
• Contribute to the development of global HR policies that ensure compliance with U.S. and international legislation, including EEO, FMLA, FLSA, and other relevant laws.
• Collaborate with HR teams and legal advisors across regions to create operational policies that comply with local and international legislative requirements, providing strategic guidance on global best practices.
• Effectively communicate compliance policies to internal teams and stakeholders across the organization, fostering a culture of compliance and awareness at all levels.
• Identify, analyze, and address compliance issues and risks within HR practices, developing mitigation strategies to ensure legal compliance across global operations.
• Manage multiple compliance-related tasks simultaneously, ensuring that deadlines are met while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Lead and manage the execution of global HR audits, ensuring that compliance records and practices are up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and submit required compliance reports (e.g., EEO-1, affirmative action plans), ensuring timely and accurate reporting for U.S. compliance and contributing to global reporting standards.
• Research and monitor changes in U.S. employment laws, advising management and HR teams on necessary changes to policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all compliance-related activities, ensuring proper documentation for internal and external audits.
• Provide input and advice on HR decisions and practices across regions to ensure that they are in line with applicable laws and regulations, contributing to consistent compliance strategies.
• Collaborate with external vendors, legal advisors, and cross-functional departments to ensure that compliance efforts are comprehensive and align with global business objectives.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field required
• Master's or JD degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience in human resources or compliance roles, with a strong understanding of HR practices, employment laws and employee relations.
• In-depth knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and compliance standards, such as Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, OFCCP and others.
• Proficiency in HR information systems (HRIS) and data analysis tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
• Professional certifications, such as Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certifications, may be preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Works under general office environmental conditions
• Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.
• Ability to travel (domestic and international) as required
• Requires occasional early morning or late evening teleconferences
