Kinder Morgan, one of North America's largest energy infrastructure companies, is looking for IT Application Developer Analysts with a background in commodity or energy trading and risk-management systems (CTRM/ETRM).
This application development position resides within the Business Systems application team. The Business Systems application team develops and supports many custom and third-party solutions for approximately 84,000 miles of natural gas, gasoline, crude oil, and carbon dioxide (CO2) pipelines and over 150 terminals for storing and handling various chemicals and other products.
On the Business Systems application team, the candidate will support the Allegro Horizon Energy Trading and Risk Management system, build relationships with key company users, and be afforded opportunities for taking responsibility and ownership of the ETRM solution. The candidate will engage in challenging assignments with opportunities for growth in their career.
This position will report directly to the Manager of Application Development. The successful candidate will enhance the Allegro Horizon application through custom extensions and reporting as well as the support of the system. The successful candidate will be expected to perform in the developer role and utilize technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Job Description:


  • Involved with implementing and supporting the Allegro Horizon application, including custom extensions and third-party system integration.

  • Configuration, enhancement, and customization of the Allegro Horizon solution primarily based on C#.NET technology, including developing SSRS reports and API/Web services.

  • Interact with internal customers (business development, commercial, contract administration, segment accounting, inventory, risk management, hedge accounting) to analyze business needs, develop & implement solutions, train customers, and maintain the applications.

  • Work with the business teams to confirm the technical solution and business requirements align.

  • Coordinate with Project Lead and Manager to determine urgency and priority for tasks with escalation of issues as required.

  • Participation in on-call rotation with fellow team members.


Position Requirements


  • 3 to 7 years of work experience in CTRM/ETRM systems (Allegro, OpenLink-Endur, SolArc-RightAngle, TriplePoint, etc.)

  • 3 to 7 years of work experience using Microsoft technologies in an application development environment. Extensive experience in using SQL to write and maintain complex business solutions.

  • Proficiency in all aspects of the .NET application model, specifically the presentation, business, and data access (SQL Server) layers. Ability to design, write and maintain complex business solutions.

  • Must be fluent in .net framework environment (C# / VB.net / ASP.net), SSRS, and SQL server data management.

  • Experience in the Project life cycle, Design, Development, Testing, Migrations, and Implementations.

  • Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate systems requirements verbally and in writing.

  • Experience working on multiple assignments during the same timeframe and juggling tasks based on relative priorities with supervision commensurate with grade level.

  • Uses time effectively and efficiently; a team player who values the input of others and strives to solve problems for the good of all.

  • Can represent interests and yet be sensitive to others, cooperative, and encourages collaboration.

  • Experience in Crystal reporting, SSIS, and SSAS is a plus.

  • Liquids, Natural Gas, Renewables, CO2, or Crude Industry experience is a plus.

  • Market Risk, Risk Valuation, Accounting, Finance, Back-Office experience is a plus.

  • Experience with the ION Hedge Accounting solution is a plus.

  • Recent Allegro Horizon experience is preferred.


Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline.
