For over 40 years, the Indiana University Natatorium, Indianapolis and the Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium have been home to hundreds of prestigious local, state, regional, national, and international competitions as well as serving as a hub for campus and community partners and youth programs. The recently opened IU Indy Tennis Complex expands the opportunity for the creation of new programs and competitions. The IU Indianapolis Sport Complex, located near the heart of downtown Indianapolis, is a vibrant part of the downtown landscape that has impacted generations of students and visiting athletes.
Job Summary
The position of Assistant Facility Operations Manager at the Indiana University Indianapolis Sport Complex is a newly created full-time staff position reporting to the Aquatic Sports IT Specialist and Operations Manager. This key staff member will play an integral role in ensuring that all 3 IU Indy Sport Complex facilities are maintained and operated in a manner that will provide a world-class experience for students, community groups, and competing athletes.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Aquatic Sports IT Specialist, the general responsibilities of the IU Indy Sport Complex Assistant Facility Operations Manager will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Assists Operations Manager with pool chemistry and venue maintenance needs. Provide backup coverage during Operations Manager¿s absence.
Manages the technical aspects required for international, national, state and weekend events held at both the IU Natatorium, and Carroll Stadium.
Directs and when necessary, perform preventative maintenance which will include repairing and replacing competition required equipment as needed.
Inventories equipment relevant to events to insure there are adequate amounts of all needed equipment and materials.
Interviews and makes recommendations on event staffing as needed to include training positions, staffing and dismissal.
Trains, schedules, and manages the event staff as needed and initiate staff meetings.
Assists all professional staff with projects that may directly influence the events being held at the IU Indy Sport Complex.
General Responsibilities
Manages building operations and maintenance such as maintenance planning, security/access control, and emergency response. Coordinates fire and life safety, environmental safety procedures, and planning with university personnel and external agencies where required.
Performs periodic scheduled and ad hoc inspections to identify cleaning and property maintenance needs.
Prepares estimates for repairs and ensures building maintenance falls within allocated budget with an emphasis on cost-containment.
Participates in all aspects of project development, budget, implementation, and completion.
Participates in an on-call rotation to cover emergency situations.
Coordinates fulfillment of work orders for corrective action and routine maintenance; monitors progress, escalating complex matters as needed.
May provide guidance to non-exempt Licensed and Skilled Trades staff.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Additional Information
Salary is up to $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
