Description: MidAmerican Energy Company with Berkshire Hathaway Energy, is seeking a student working towards a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or related field, graduating no later than December 2025. The IT communications intern will provide support to IT to ensure internal colleagues understand technology used at Berkshire Hathaway Energy. This position will assist with delivering communications for key IT projects, and will assist with writing user guides, technical job-aids, IT newsletters and general IT articles. This position will help support the IT intranet to ensure content is timely and current. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and full-time/hourly through the summer with the possibility of continuing part-time hours through the 2025-2026 school year.

Interns will have the opportunity to participate in the annual three-day summer intern event in Des Moines, Iowa, where they will tour state-of-the-art facilities, network with leadership, and gain a broader understanding of the company. Other panels, lunch and learns and events will be happening throughout the summer to give our interns the best experience.
Responsibilities: Helps develop IT- specific content for internal staff including job-aids for specific technologies or processes.
Contributes to projects, with focus on the user experience.
Provides editing and proofing support as needed and works with corporate communications as appropriate on final review of user communications.
Assists with the development of the IT newsletter and the IT intranet.
Follows all company and department processes and procedures in daily work.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications: Working towards a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or related field. Ability to translate technical information into clear, concise and user-friendly content. Exceptional oral and written communications skills, high attention to detail and level of judgment. Basic understanding of IT concepts and terminology. Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills. Familiar with Associated Press style. Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite; Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Comfortable with SharePoint Online. Ability to prioritize work tasks; strong organizational skills. Proficient in electronic communications.
