Job Description:
The Plant Engineering (PE) Supervisor (BaSE Supervisor) protects UPS assets including buildings, equipment, and grounds. He/She supervises facility maintenance, housekeeping, environmental and labor compliance, safety, and conveyor system reliability. This position assures compliance with UPS Hazardous Materials Procedures and national and international regulations that govern the transportation of hazardous materials (hazmat) and non-hazardous regulated goods (e.g., tobacco, alcoholic beverages, etc.) through audits, confirming completion of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), training employees, and supporting Business Development (BD) in its interactions with affected shippers. He/She is responsible for ensuring environmental and safety compliance at the district level for all facilities (e.g., reviews applicable facility regulations, conducts audits, performs trend analysis for compliance activities, etc.). The PE Supervisor designs safe and efficient conveyor layouts to meet organizational needs for expansions, retrofits, and new buildings. He/She creates conveyor electrical designs according to UPS and federal regulations and standards and provides support for new and existing UPS facilities. This position develops, tests, and deploys software and hardware solutions. He/She is available to support the Plant Engineering Information Systems (PEIS) department's developed programs and websites and advises personnel on software and hardware questions. The PE Supervisor maintains the documentation of UPS building standards and specifications, assists the field with issues related to building standards and specifications, updates construction project documentation, and provides drafting and web support services. This position manages construction projects of low to moderate complexity and risk (i.e., conveyor installations and facility modifications), ensures adherence to contract documentation, scheduled timelines, and cost control parameters. Fully-automated facility with PLC, encoders, photoeyes, HMIs, and various other automated equipment.
