The UI Carver College of Medicine seeks a Business Intelligence Architect to join the CCOM IT Software Application Services team and transform data into actionable insights to support academic, administrative, healthcare, and research decision-making. This position will integrate into the existing Data Team, collaborating closely with the Data Lead, who oversees all data, databases, and data processes supporting CCOM application developers and foundational systems. The Business Intelligence Architect will engage stakeholders across CCOM's mission areas to analyze institutional workflows, processes, and data, providing insights, reporting, and data-driven solutions that drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. This position is eligible for a hybrid work structure within Iowa with the majority of work taking place on the University of Iowa campus.

Primary duties to include:
Business Requirements and Analysis
Gather and analyze enterprise-wide user requirements for data models, architecture, and analytics.
Develop strategies and change management processes to solve data gap analysis and business needs.
Reporting and Visualization (front end)
Manage data integrity and quality strategy. Perform advanced data analysis techniques.
Work closely with the CCOM Office of Research to create, maintain, and advance reporting and visualization tools that quantify resources such as grants, space, and research core usage associated with the institution.
Work closely with CCOM Education groups to create, maintain, and advance reporting and visualization tools that quantify educational components such as curriculum elements, teaching effectiveness, learning objectives, and outcomes.
Work closely with CCOM Administration to create, maintain, and advance reporting and visualization tools that quantify data elements supporting Faculty
Focus on outcomes and data visualization.
Develop and support ETL processes.
Design and execute complex SQL queries, and deliver impactful reporting and visualization solutions.
Architecture (back end)
Architect, implement, maintain and support data tools, platforms and solutions.
Construct complex data pipelines to clean, transform, aggregate, and publish data.
Assess and recommend enterprise data platforms and tools.
Develop and implement external database integration strategies.
Statistical and Mathematical Modeling
Operationalize data analytics algorithms and infrastructure.
Perform data analytics based upon processes developed by others.
Leadership
Serve as technical lead/expert. Develop technology roadmaps.
Provide mentorship and coaching on data analytics and reporting to customers and organization.
May hire, develop, and manage the performance of staff; assure staff are compliant with UI policies and procedures.
May assist in budget development and provide projections and recommendations.
Assist in development, application and support of Institutional Data policies.
Assist in the management of the data governance (availability, usability, integrity and security of the data) used in the enterprise.
Strong collaboration and alignment with the existing team and Lead to ensure cohesive and effective data solutions.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field within an academic healthcare organization.
Proven expertise in relational database concepts and design, including data warehouse techniques.
