DESCRIPTION:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is tasked with the strategic oversight and operational management of the EH&S department. This role encompasses the formulation and implementation of policies designed to foster a safe and healthful work environment, ensuring adherence to all pertinent Federal, State, and local environmental and safety regulations. The manager is also responsible for guiding departmental staff in the execution of these policies to maintain compliance and promote workplace safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Contribute as a member of the FM Industries senior management team.

  • Develop, strategize, and implement a long-term plan for site(s) EH&S function.

  • Influence management to drive EH&S performance.

  • Coordinate site Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability programs.

  • Maintain ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications.

  • Oversee day to day operations in the EH&S department.

  • Evaluate hazards within the facility for safety, health, and environmental risks.

  • Develop health and safety procedures and programs for all departments and monitors safety compliance to reduce associated risk.

  • Organize contingency plans, including fire prevention and procedures for controlling hazardous spills in accordance with government regulations and insurance company requirements.

  • Develop inspection polices and establish regular inspection schedules.

  • Provide supervision of training sessions including but not limited to emergency preparedness, confined spaces, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection, and forklift safety.

  • Maintain records of hazardous waste, air emission permitting, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure in accordance with OSHA regulations.

  • Foster an environment that allows site staff and responsible departments to interact and develop processes and procedures that comply with corporate directives and promotes continuous improvement.

  • Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.

  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001), and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (ISO 45001) as applicable.

  • Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, professional and regulatory agency standards, and licensure requirements.

  • Demonstrated commitment in the successful EH&S management of chemical processes and facilities.

  • Implements and maintains programs to improve the safety, productivity, and profitability of the Area; Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT)/Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other Federal and State regulations.

  • Executes necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with Company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations.

  • Ensures thorough root cause investigations for all injuries.

  • Generate compliance reports as required. Update documents to remain current with the latest requirements and legislation. Serve as the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Rep.

  • Strong knowledge of requirements of 29 CFR 1910 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards) in the United States, and familiarity with ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001.

  • Direct and coordinate site Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability programs and compliances of ISO 14001/45001 standards.

  • Responsible for leading the successful use of EHS management systems which includes the Corporate EHS Directs, ISO 14001 certification and any other applicable EHS management system certifications or elements.



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred), Occupational Health and Safety Sciences, Environmental Resources Mgmt., or related technical field.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong environmental background with knowledge of EPA, ADEQ and MCAQD regulations.

  • Extensive expertise in leading and executing projects.

  • Organized with an appreciation of the need for accuracy and an eye for detail.

  • Ability to work under own initiative is important as is the ability to prioritize multiple workloads and tasks while meeting timelines.

  • Must have persistence and perseverance to be successful in a high intensity ever changing working environment.

  • Experience managing multiple locations.

  • Must be available to travel as required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • EH&S related licenses, certifications, and membership in EH&S professional associations are desired.

  • Experience implementing and maintaining ISO certifications at a manufacturing site preferred.

  • Experience with anodizing process.

  • Semiconductor industry or other manufacturing experience preferred.
