Job Title: Sr. Systems & Network Admin
Location: San Jose, CA
Direct Hire / Hybrid (2 days/wk)


Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems & Network Administrator to oversee the security, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our organization's IT infrastructure.
The role involves both high-level IT infrastructure design and hands-on system/network administration, with a stronger focus on the latter.


Responsibilities:
30% Architecture:
* Strategic Planning & Design - Designing and enhancing network/system infrastructure.
* Security Architecture - Developing security strategies, including firewall policies and access controls.
* Cloud & Virtualization Strategy - Structuring cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
* Infrastructure Optimization - Recommending new technologies and best practices.


70% Administration:
* Daily IT Operations - Managing servers, networks, and firewalls (Palo Alto & Cisco), and troubleshooting issues.
* Security Management - Monitoring for threats, applying patches, and enforcing policies.
* User Support - Handling tickets, resolving system issues, and ensuring uptime.
* System Maintenance - Performing backups, updates, and configuration management.


Qualifications & Experience
* 6-8 years of experience in systems and network administration.
* Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Firewall Experience Software and Hardware: Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco firewalls is mandatory - Must.


* Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and Office 365.
* Proficiency in VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure).
* Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and networking equipment (Cisco routers, switches, firewalls).
* Working knowledge of routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, RIP) and switching technologies (VLAN, spanning tree, security configurations).
* Experience with telephony technologies (Cloud PBX, VoIP, SIP Trunks, IVR).
* Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including firewalls, endpoint security, and vulnerability management.
* Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
* Ability to explain technical concepts in clear, non-technical terms to business users.
* Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: One or more of the following certifications is required. Comparable alternatives from other vendors will be considered: MCSA, MCSE, VCP, VCAP, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, ITIL, CISM, PCNSE, CCNA RS, CCNA Security, GSEC
