The Position:
The Research and Development Lab Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties under the supervision of the Research and Development Manager or designee. This position includes specimen preparation, product development/prototype support, and other highly diversified duties. The Lab Technician is required to be competent in the organization of documentation related to testing and supporting the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.
Additional Functions:
Clear and concise communication with engineers, team leaders, and fellow employees
Troubleshooting and problem solving when variances in testing occur
Design and fabrication of test specimens, equipment, and fixtures
Analyzing, recording, and organizing test data, as required by a test standard or test protocol
Perform a variety of laboratory experiments using both routine and special techniques and methods
Collect, analyze, and process laboratory samples
Record results, organize data, and perform basic computations
Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment
Comply with all safety standards
Perform other duties as required.
Compensation
Base Rate: $19.24/hour + Weekly Production Bonus Example: Hourly Base Rate = 19.24 Weekly Production Bonus = 55%. Total Hourly Rate = $29.82
Production Bonus
Production Bonus percentage is variable, determinate upon attaining production goals each week. Production Bonus is paid out weekly.
Profit-Sharing
10% of Nucor's pre-tax earnings are contributed to the Profit Sharing Plan annually and distributed to all eligible teammates. A large portion is deposited into your profit-sharing account, and a smaller portion is distributed in cash. Current 6-year average = 19.88% of your eligible earnings. Eligible earnings include regular pay, overtime, and bonus.

Minimum Qualifications:
2 years experience working in construction, machining, and/or fabrication
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical control systems
Proficient in Auto Cad and Microsoft Office Products
Prior test lab experience
Completion of a craft apprentice
Technical aptitude and skillset
Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Detail oriented
Ability to perform duties independently
Applied Associates Degree in a technical field
