Job Description:

The College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences Office of the Dean is seeking a dedicated professional to manage and monitor departmental financial and budgetary systems, ensuring accurate allocation of funds and adherence to university procedures.



  • Collecting and analyzing data and preparing financial reports.

  • Monitoring financial and budgetary systems for the department/college to insure proper allocation of expenditures and compliance with applicable regulations. 

  • Balancing all accounts and preparing monthly financial statements.

  • Generating reliable cost information to be used in preparation of new or modified budget proposals.

  • Assisting in the preparation and administration of the annual budget and preparing follow-up reports as requested throughout the year. 

  • Developing, recommending and administering management information systems for the college/department including financial records, personnel records, student enrollment statistics, physical facilities and equipment. 

  • Coordinating with University administration offices regarding financial practices within the college/department.

  • Advising on matters concerning administrative practices, policies and procedures in regard to accounts, budgets and/or forecasts for the department and the university. 

  • Assisting in developing and modifying accounting systems necessary to ensure sound practices are followed for disbursement of university funds.

Required Education: High School diploma or GED, AND:



  • 24 months accounting or bookkeeping experience.


Skills:



  • Knowledge of accounting principles and processes.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.

  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty and staff.

  • Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.

  • Strong initiative to solve problems in a timely manner.

  • Manual dexterity and engage in repetitive motion.

  • Use of computer and telephone.

Departmental Preferences:



  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in accounting, and finance systems and processes, including financial statement preparation, budgets, and financial and cost analysis.

  • Experience in fiscal management, working with budgets, allocating funding and monitoring outcomes.

  • Previous experience using PeopleSoft Financials &/or HR, Adaptive Budget and Planning, or other university software.

  •  No Supervisory Duties
