JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.
This is a 10-Week Project-Based Internship, where you'll gain hands-on experience, work cross-functionally within local departments, branches, and other JAS offices around the globe. As an operations intern you will assimilate how international shipments and supporting data are planned, executed, managed, and monitored on various management levels.
This opportunity offers regular engagement with a wide array of stakeholders, to help foster a deep understanding of global logistics operations. Providing exposure and job shadowing in various JAS Departments including, but not limited to: Air/Ocean Freight, Import/Exports, Customs Brokerage, Warehousing, and Sales. Providing a wholistic understanding of the logistics industry while gaining valuable insights into the decision-making processes and strategic approaches of a global supply chain leader.

Project Scope - Cost Accrual, Billing, & Auto Rate Automation
The goal is to reduce manual inputs, improve billing accuracy and timeliness, and capture shipment costs accurately from the start. Interns will analyze existing SOPs, identify automation opportunities, and assist with implementation and training. The project will also optimize Accounts Payable by reducing missed accruals and eliminating rework, allowing agents to focus on more strategic tasks.
By achieving 95% automation in billing and invoicing for Charlotte customers, the project will streamline operations, reduce redundant data entry, and improve profitability accuracy. Challenges include aligning customer-specific requirements with automated processes, improving cost accrual accuracy, and ensuring consistent tool usage across teams. Ultimately, the initiative will speed up financial processes and improve operational efficiency.
