Job Overview :
Will primarily provide analysis for the operations, engineering, monitoring, and implementation of Storage Systems. Collaborate on Systems Engineering related projects with diverse technical requirements.
Primary Job Functions :
As a Systems Engineer for Loomis, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Day-to-day operations of IT storage functions, including allocating storage to UNIX / Linux / Windows hosts, managing network file systems, administering data replication, initiating backup or restore operations, tracking disk usage, and resolving performance issues
Manage, set up, administer, support, and troubleshoot enterprise storage infrastructure and associated systems, including UNIX / Linux / Windows hosts, Dell Data Domain, Isilon, and ECS midrange arrays, Brocade/Cisco switches, Avamar, Power Protect Data Manager, Networker, and storage software and applications. Support performance monitoring, back-ups, reporting, problem identification, management, and resolution.
Create and maintain documentation to identify storage hardware, software configuration, and connectivity.
Develop plans for hardware, systems operations, and technical procedures; provide input for disaster recovery and security plans.
Manage storage activity such as planning, installation, operation, and maintenance of storage arrays, switches, HBAs, and other hardware.e
Make necessary recommendations for additional storage resources or hardware.
Identify and manage storage service improvements to increase customer satisfactio.n
Respond to and resolve escalated customer issues
Maintain accountability for resolving service problems and for prioritizing work requests.
Ensure satisfactory delivery of all projects.
Participate in 24x7 rotation of pager, requiring response within standard timeframes.
Perform occasional evening and weekend work.
Primary Qualifications
Operating system certification, such as MCSA/MCSE or RHCE
Preference will be given to those candidates who also possess storage-related certifications, such as from SNIA, Brocade, or Dell/EMC.
Experience/training with Dell/EMC midrange arrays and storage management software
Experience/training with storage virtualization technology
Experience/training with Brocade or Cisco switches
2+ years of technical experience with VMware VM recovery and related products
Experience writing technical documentation
Experience supporting database servers running MS SQL, or similar
Practical knowledge of Disaster Recovery and Continuity planning and testing
Other:
Will have to travel on occasion.
Will carry a pager/phone and will occasionally be on call 24 hours.
