Position Description:


We are looking for a detail-oriented Internal Auditor. This position is responsible for performing operational, financial and compliance audits of various departments and divisions of the organization in order to verify accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness. Execute audits in accordance with departmental procedures and Institute of Internal Audit Standards under the supervision of the Audit Director.


Day-to Day-Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Audits: Perform audits to evaluate controls, compliance, and risk management processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and professional standards.
  • Risk Assessment: Collaborate with leadership to identify business risks, assess controls, and develop audit scope and procedures.
  • Analyze and Recommend: Collect, analyze, and appraise evidence to form objective opinions on internal controls, identifying deficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Audit Reporting: Draft accurate, clear, and timely audit reports, incorporating management feedback and practical recommendations.
  • Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships with audit clients by providing updates, collaborating on solutions, and respecting priorities.
  • Follow-Up: Monitor open audit issues, ensuring corrective actions are taken and risks are mitigated. Escalate unresolved risks as needed.
  • Special Projects: Provide consulting support or facilitate third-party audits when applicable.
  • Professional Standards: Uphold the IIA's Code of Ethics, maintain confidentiality, and pursue ongoing professional development.

It's an important role that covers many skills. This position requires:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related discipline and two (2) to four (4) years of experience in public accounting, internal auditing, and/or regulatory auditing. Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting/financial systems, internal controls, and industry standard internal audit practices.
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Ability to communicate/coordinate effectively with all levels of management as well as with outside vendors.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • A minimal degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision and to travel on a moderate basis.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Beginner to average level in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possesses analytical thinking and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to consistently complete specific assigned tasks within allocated time budgets and reasonable duration.
  • A high degree of integrity is required as this position works with sensitive and confidential information.
